Biography

Charles Romans, an esteemed 3D Design Director at Protostudios, is an alumnus of the University of Iowa, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts in 3D Design. His expertise lies in product design, utilizing systematic approaches that foster a creative and efficient workflow, seamlessly transitioning from design conception to proof-of-concept through advanced rapid-prototyping techniques.

Chuck's innovative product designs have garnered recognition at prestigious design venues. His accolades include an individual submission winning the SOFA Connect Competition at the Expo in Chicago (2013, 2014), securing first place in the Sustain 2 Eco Art & Design Exhibition at the Southern Illinois University Museum (2014), and displayed at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy (2015). Additionally, with his participation, the UI 3D Design Program triumphed at the ICFF Schools, New York, clinching the 2015 Editor’s Award for Best School.

Post-MFA, Chuck joined Protostudios in 2016 as the lead designer. His tenure at Protostudios has been marked by the design and rapid-prototyping of over 200 diverse projects, including commercial products, medical devices, and anatomical models for medical training simulations and patient surgical care. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing clients' ideas and business developments.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Chuck is passionate about the fine arts, engaging in drawing and painting. He is also adept in graphic design, branding, and 3D product animation, with services provided through his independent business, TopLiner Design.
